Our Technology

Eye Care is a fast growing field with constantly evolving technology that allows us to improve patient care. Easton Eye Care prides itself on staying up-to-date in technology and medical advancements. Below you will find some of the most advanced technology that we are proud to offer. Find specifics on our Macular Health Initiative here!

Macular Densitometry:

New Picture 9

This cutting-edge technology measures the protective pigment found within the macula. Studies have shown a strong correlation between low macular pigment and greatly increased risk for Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD). This diagnostic instrument provides another valuable element of the risk profile for patients. Currently we are the only provider on the Eastern Shore with this capability

iWellness Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT):

Iwellness

The OCT has become standard of care for following patients with existing retinal disease. It shows us a cross-section deep through all the layers of the retina. We have taken this a step further and offer the technology for the screening of patients for subtle signs of disease including ARMD and glaucoma. This allows us to detect macular,  retinal and optic nerve problems much earlier than through traditional clinical examination. The OCT can be used for more advanced diagnostic scans to follow the progression of disease.

Optos Retinal Photography and Autofluorescence:

optos

This impressive technology allows us to image the retina with a wide field of view even without dilation! It allows routine screening for a variety of retinal findings including diabetes and hypertension. It's wide field of view also provides early evidence of retinal holes and tears which can lead to a retinal detachment. The newest version is capable of fundus autofluorescence, an exciting new imaging technique that allows us to better track unhealthy retina and provide appropriate care prior to full-blown retinal disease.

Tear Lab Dry Eye Diagnostic:

tearlab

For the first time we are able to quantify the Dry Eye symptoms that so many people suffer from. One of the principle concepts of dry eye syndrome is that the tears either evaporate or are not made quickly enough. This quick and painless test samples the tears to tell us the precise quality of the tears. We can use it to benchmark how severe the dryness is, how best to treat it, and to quantify the progress of treatment.

Adenoplus Viral Conjunctivitis Diagnostic:

adenoplus main

Most know conjunctivitis as "pink eye," but there are actually three major causes of conjunctivitis: allergy, viral infection, and bacterial infection. This test takes just minutes but provides the doctors with valuable information on which treatment is best for each individual case. Knowing specifically which type we are seeing allows a more specific treatment regime which leads to a faster recovery time.
