A contact lens exam includes an evaluation, prescription, fitting, instructions, trial lenses and contact lens follow-ups for the following 6 months. It is a separate service (and separate cost) from the comprehensive eye exam. Most insurance companies DO NOT cover the contact lens exam, but some will give a percentage off or an allowance toward contacts instead of glasses. The Optomap Retinal Exam is a quick and painless digital photograph of the back of the eye that provides important information about retinal problems including macular degneration, glaucoma, retinal holes or detachments, and systemic diseases such as diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure. These conditions can lead to serious health problems, inlcuding partial loss of vision or blindness, and often develop without warning and progress with no symptoms.
